The difference between 'interested' and 'committed'
If you want to change your life, it’s important to understand the difference between these two words.
The word ‘committed’ gets thrown around a lot these days.
Too lightly, if you ask me.
People will say they’re committed to their spouse, getting their money up, being in better shape, achieving a higher spiritual plain.
Look at anything which requires consistency, discipline and sacrifice. I mean anything worth having.
When you block your ears and forget about what people say, it’s easy to see who is interested and who is committed.
Interested people are many.
Committed people are few.
If you’re interested in a goal, you will work on it when you ‘have time’. And that might be enough for a hobby. But if you treat your career like a hobby, or run your business like a hobby… don’t be surprised when it pays you like a hobby.
But when you’re committed, you do whatever it takes. You make the time. You carve out the unobstructed hours on a daily basis for mindful practice. Nights. Weekends. Holidays. Whatever.
If you’re interested, you accept excuses. That you’re ‘not in the zone’, or the weather is bad, or the economy ‘just isn’t happening’ right now, or so-and-so was rude to you on the phone. You leave potential energy on the table, untapped.
But when you’re committed, you stop listening to your own excuses and simply do what needs to be done, regardless of emotional state.
If you’re interested, you prioritise your comfort. Physical, mental and financial. So you make hesitant efforts here and there.
But when you’re committed, you’ll run headfirst into pain in its many forms: exhaustion, uncertainty, failure and embarrassment. Action is automatic for the committed person.
If you’re interested, you already know what you could be doing, and what would bring your goals closer. After all, you’re a smart person. But you’re frustrated and ill at ease. Because you rarely follow through.
But when you’re committed, you’re at peace with yourself, and the world around you, because you’re living in alignment with your highest values. Every day.

Sensation: NVIDIA surpasses both Microsoft and Apple, becoming world’s most valuable public company
NVIDIA is now valued at US$3.3 trillion, a market capitalisation which is 182 times larger than Botswana’s GDP.
NVIDIA’s share price may be up tenfold since 2022, but this is far from an overnight success story.
Founded in 1993 and previously best known to consumers in the PC gaming market for its graphics chips, co-founder CEO Jensen Huang began exploring deep machine learning in 2006, many years before AI went mainstream.
Today, NVIDIA has positioned itself at the very forefront of this revolution. The company occupies approximately 80% of the market share for the high-performance chips required for AI computing, providing the specialised processors for ChatGPT, Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Amazon.
